So it's finally come... We're officially announcing that These Wounds, our debut album, will be out in May of 2012! After a good four years hard work we're finally a stone's throw away from this momentous occasion. And though in many ways this is just the beginning, it's also much more of an accomplishment than many would think. As we sit here and type this out, we can't help but think of all the bands we've gotten to know along the way who are now no more - some of them extremely talented, with every thing you thought a band would need to make it. Bands like Abraxus, Prego, Signal:Fire, Chaos Days, The Sketch, We Are Revival... the list goes on and on. We realize more and more that we should be so grateful that we are where we are, especially considering all the constraints... constraints which have been present for the majority of our time together and which have - on more than one occasion - brought this band very close to folding. Thank you to the One who has kept us alive and to all of you who have continued to show us so much love and support. As was said in the last news update, you will be hearing much more from us over the next couple of months so do make sure to watch this space. For now, all has been done on the single and album release front - video has been shot, deliverables are with the PR company - S-A-N PR, whom we highly recommend, by the way - and the the majority of the design work for the ads and the CD have been done. The only thing left is finalizing dates for the tour which should be wrapped up after the Christmas break. Finally, have a look on our sites when you find the time. They've all been updated in preparation for the release! You'll also find a teaser of the title track, These Wounds, mixed by none other than Alex Greig of MaLoKaI! It'll be out this March, along with the video we did with Mr Tim Bullock of A Glass Half Creative! So from all of us, a very Merry Christmas to you! May every blessing be on you this season and may you truly experience the miracle this season celebrates. Lot's of love! Firefalldown Back in Action, a Renewed Vision! 11/13/2011
_Firefalldown is now officially back! It's been a long and hard season, but that season has finally come to pass. This one was particularly trying but I suppose none are quite as formative as those periods of testing and refining. It's as CS Lewis says - though the peaks are what we often seek, it is through the troughs that God is really at work in our lives. It gives us great joy and satisfaction that we are able to say this with utmost confidence: we have sought the Lord more in these last 4 months than we had in the previous 4 years! Thank you to all who prayed and showed their love and support through this crucial period in the band's life. This next period will undoubtedly be a powerful one. MUSIC VIDEO & 150 FEST TOUR The music video for the next single 'These Wounds' has now been shot with producer Tim Bullock. The song is quite explicitly about the wounds that Jesus bore on the cross as penalty for our sins. And as such, we believe there is something very special about this song... something that threatens the powers and principalities on the other side. Join us in praying that both the video and the song receive groundbreaking amounts of airplay in the secular media. Keep checking this space to see behind the scenes footage and pictures which will be out over the Christmas break. Another major development which we are extremely optimistic about is that Firefalldown will now be touring in partnership with the 150 Fest! This means that our entire tour for 2012 will be focused on outreach shows that are organized with local churches! It's a big step for us, one which aligns very much with our vision, ensuring that the kids we reach out to have support from churches and Christians in their respective towns and cities. At the moment, we now have about 6 dates that we are working on for next year but we are believing for 20, so please join us in praying for thousands of kids to give their lives to Jesus and be plugged into local churches through this tour. If you are interested in staging a leg of the tour in your area, click HERE Finally, preparations for the release of this debut album are finally pushing forward! Album art has been designed and a batch of limited edition copies has been pressed. We will have a specific date in the couple of weeks, but for now we're looking at a release around March of next year! Stay tuned! These are exciting times. Thank you so very much to all those who have extended love, prayers, and support! You'll definitely be hearing from us more frequently in the coming weeks and months. God bless you always! This Next Season 08/03/2011
Hello good people, Some of you who follow Firefalldown's movements closely may be aware that things have taken a turn for us. Certain circumstances have led us to hold fire (pardon the pun) on all band activity and instead pursue God more intensely in all things, particularly related to our ministry. Each of us feels very strongly that drastic measures need to be taken if we are to pursue the calling that God has for this band with utmost effectiveness. As such, we will not be playing any shows over this next season in order to re-align ourselves with the vision to which God has called us. We will still be getting together on a regular basis, but with a focus on seeking His counsel. A word that has been given to us recently ls taken from Genesis 22 - where Abraham sacrifices Isaac. Each member of this band has said from the very beginning that we would gladly surrender this ministry if we were asked, and that the sole purpose of this band is God's glory and the furthering of His Kingdom. This has never been about us, about our careers as musicians, or about the music. Now is a chance to walk the walk. We believe firmly that God is asking us to lay down all front-line activity for this next season. And though that might be totally counter-intuitive considering all of the doors that have recently opened for us, we gladly surrender. Please join us in prayer and in faith throughout this time, that God would reveal His perfect will to us and also bring restoration and strength, that we may press on harder than ever before!! We look forward to what lies beyond this time of testing, confident that He who raised Christ from the dead is able to call things that are not as though they are. God bless you always. See you on the other side. Hello good people, It's high time for a bit of a lowdown on what's been happening... as ever, a combination of first times, good times, and laughs! At the beginning of June we headed to Lodz in Poland for the G.O.D. fest (first time in Poland for us... hopefully not the last!!). Lodz was a great place, and we had some fun times with some amazing people - our hosts treated us to a big meal before the gig... very nice!! It was great to be part of this special evening, and we trust that G.O.D fest with grow hugely in the years to come. A bit of footage from our time there, just for fun... http://youtu.be/U9QZ709hU4k Also, please be sure to keep an eye out for these awesome bands with big visions! Namely Fonovel, Lostenfound, and Feefless!! Another first time for us was to head out over the pond to the USA for Cornerstone festival!! It was amazing in many ways - bands were ridiculously hot, the weather was ridiculously hot (made worse by serious doses of humidity - imagine trying to run a marathon in a sauna... on a treadmill), but the thing that struck us the most was the friendliness of the festival-goers and bands alike... almost like we were part of an instant family - very cool!!! As we've come to expect, things don't always go according to plan - but God makes a way for us... at 5am on the morning we were to fly out to the US, Joel was in A&E (emergency room) with some sort of gastric unpleasantness that caused him to loose a few kg's over the previous few days... much prayer and a few hours later and he was on the plane - not a single symptom ever since (thanks to all those who prayed!!). Our first set at the festival was "different" too.... lights had blown on the stage, so we had to set up in the dark while the organisers were out buying replacements... when the show eventually started, Jon found that many of his guitar effects were frustratingly random or not working at all (what do you know, the electrics are 110 volts in the US and not 240 volts like in the UK... yep, we're just amatuers!!!) - all this while Joel was making every effort to put in an energetic performance while trying to keep his trousers up - they kept falling down because of his weight-loss... aaaaaaah, good fun!!! We have to confess... we stayed in a cheap nearby Motel instead of camping at the festival... wooosies! The album... it does exist (we promise). The release is still set for the end of summer (September/October).... 11 tracks of our tried and tested live stuff recorded in 3 separate studios, on 3 separate occasions, by 3 separate producers, and 3 separate engineers... over 3 years... with the final result having a fairly coordinated Firefalldown sound - we hope you will like! Joel cut his hair... possibly not the biggest news you'll ever hear from us, but for a dude that has had long hair for something like 10 years, it was a pretty big thing.... and it's a surpise when you see him for the first time post-cut. As previously promised, don't miss the sleepy Joel collage at http://youtu.be/tq0riP9zVqo Keep in touch with us on the Facebook page, or the mailing list manager through our website... there's always something happening, with behind the scenes footage on FirefalldownTV! Was that the end of 2010?! That year flew by faster than any other.... yeah-yeah, maybe we're just getting old! A fair bit happened though, but it was just the other day that we were writing the summary for 2009... but whatever, bring on 2011 because we're excited about it!
It's worthwhile (for us anyway) to make a summary of the bigger moments in 2010 Recording - back to the studio again for another 4/5 tracks. We had good fun laying down these newest tracks (and one oldie)... Alex Greig from Malokai made it easy for us in the studio. Musos out there will confirm, recording time and the mixing/production that follows can be stressful and full of disagreements (we all think that we all know best... artists eh?!), so it really helps when the atmosphere is chilled in the studio - Alex does a great job here during the recording process, not to mention the final result (you'll see!)!! With another few tracks down, it means an Album is to follow. The first album... finally...."about flippen time" we hear you say - yeah we know - so keep your ears to the ground for this release in 2011 OK?! ..... Big news coming your way! First off, it’s been confirmed that FIREFALLDOWN’s latest single, “Stand Tall”, is being playlisted on three of the UK’s major rock music TV channels – Scuzz, Kerrang!, and Lava TV!
SCUZZ TV starts playing the music video today! Look out for it on SKY channel 374 and FREESAT channel 503. Help us to keep the video on rotation by emailing requests@scuzz.tv as often as you can to request the video! And if you are based in the UK, please take the time to phone LAVA TV between 9am-5pm on weekdays and 3pm-7pm on weekends at 0800 612 6229 and vote 0859 to keep Stand Tall playlisted as long as possible! And for our fans from the Philippines and elsewhere, go to LAVA TV's facebook site HERE, like their page, and comment on their wall mentioning Firefalldown and the single Stand Tall! We’ll be posting information on how to request the track on Kerrang! TV as soon as we find out exactly when it will start being aired, so stay tuned for that... | FFD's latest updates
