FIREFALLDOWN

Was that the end of 2010?! That year flew by faster than any other.... yeah-yeah, maybe we're just getting old! A fair bit happened though, but it was just the other day that we were writing the summary for 2009... but whatever, bring on 2011 because we're excited about it!

It's worthwhile (for us anyway) to make a summary of the bigger moments in 2010

Recording - back to the studio again for another 4/5 tracks. We had good fun laying down these newest tracks (and one oldie)... Alex Greig from Malokai made it easy for us in the studio. Musos out there will confirm, recording time and the mixing/production that follows can be stressful and full of disagreements (we all think that we all know best... artists eh?!), so it really helps when the atmosphere is chilled in the studio - Alex does a great job here during the recording process, not to mention the final result (you'll see!)!! With another few tracks down, it means an Album is to follow. The first album... finally...."about flippen time" we hear you say - yeah we know - so keep your ears to the ground for this release in 2011 OK?! .....

In April we had a slot onstage at the Summer Slam festival in Manila at the Amoranto Stadium. With over 30,000 people in the stadium, the atmosphere was amazing - and having legends like Testament and Lamb of God headlining the festival, the crowds were pretty excited too!

Aside from the international band presence, the best of the Philippine hard music scene was onstage for the festival, and the crowds were seriously spoilt with the talent that day - no kidding, these guys kick it big style!!

In August we again had a slot on the Meltdown stage for the Greenbelt Festival. Meltdown have hosted a stage here for many years now, and always have a varied spread of Christian bands from the hard music scene - this stage is always well supported too.... thanks guys!! We always say it, but it was a genuine pleasure for us to share a stage with the talented bands that day - we were on the Saturday line-up which included 100 Philistine Foreskins, the Catapults, and Conduit!

Babies - the Firefalldown family expanded this year, twice!! First, Andrew and his wife welcomed Olivia Noa Hodgson onto the planet at the end of January... and then keeping on with the girlie theme, Joel and his wife had little Jodie Sablayan join their family in August - so nothing like broken nights and funky nappies to throw a spanner or two into the musical works... but we all soldiered on. We didn't think it possible but Joel cat-naps even more than before!!! Look out for a foto-album of Joel in all sorts of sleep modes in all sorts of places... 'bout time we put that together.

We were incredibly blessed to be the main support for Coheed and Cambria on July 31st at A Venue in Manila. C&C are really professional, and this came across in their set - which from our perspective was faultless!! They played loads of tracks from their latest album (year of the black rainbow) and we were blown away. Of course we were really amped to be playing before them, and we were really chuffed to have some of the crowd sing along to one or two of our songs. We're looking forward to getting back to the Philippines in 2011... maybe twice!!!!!!!

We released our second single called Stand Tall in September - it's about standing up for what you believe in, which is important to us because what we believe is the reason for our existence as a band! The video for this one is really different - feel free to checkitout on our site - http://www.firefalldown.com (you can actually just download the single for free here too). We're pretty excited because this video has made it onto the playlists of SCUZZ TV (SKY channel 374 and FREESAT channel 503), as well as LAVA TV and also Kerrang! TV - this is our first bit of presence on UK television, hence our excitement... we trust there is more to come for the next releases! The single has also started getting airplay on Ian Camfields Rock Show on XFM radio!

And that's a wrap! Stay tuned for more on the debut album and... what??? Our first US show??! Keep your eyes and ears peeled!
